The performance of students is rated at the end of each term based on the following grading system:
- 1.0 = Excellent
- 1.5 = Very Good
- 2.0 = Good
- 2.5 = Satisfactory
- 3.0 = Passed
- 4.0 = Conditional Failure
- 5.0 = Failed
- DRP = Dropped
- EXT = Extended
Grades of 1.25, 1.75, 2.25, and 2.75 may also be given.
Please note that as a conditional failure, 4.0 is still considered a failed grade unless it is removed.
How your grades are assigned is your FIC's discretion. For example, teachers might require students to achieve 60%, 65%, or even 75% to merit a 3.0 in their class.
For courses requiring non-numerical grades (e.g., MMS 200 as "200a"), the following marks are given:
- S = Satisfactory
- U = Unsatisfactory
Please note that "U" does not technically count as a failing grade. A failing grade refers only to grades such as 4.0 or 5.0. However, it does have implications (for example in how you enroll MMS 200).
I received a grade of DRP - Unauthorized; what does that mean?
FICs sometimes give a grade of DRP - Unauthorized as an alternative to a failing grade of 5.0. It means that your performance in the course did not meet minimum standards that your FIC expects of you, but they have, as a favor to you, chosen to give you a mark that will not affect your overall weighted average grade. While it shows exceedingly poor performance, a DRP - Unauthorized grade is technically not a failing grade; nevertheless, you will have to retake and pass the course in which you incurred this grade for the course to be counted towards your degree.
Why did I get a certain grade for one of my courses?
Grades are entirely the domain of the FIC handling the course. If you have any concerns about a grade that you received, please contact the FIC directly.
